TERESA IOMMI ESEBT (REG) EQUINE BOWEN THERAPIST

About Me

I am a fully qualified Bowen and Equine Bowen Therapist. I am certified to treat both people and horses and am registered with The European School of Equine Bowen Therapists.

To remain on the register, graduates must be fully insured, be first aid trained and take CPD ( Continuing Professional Development) courses.

The course director is Beth Darrall, and the course is supervised and examined by an equine veterinary surgeon and BHSI instructor.

As well as training in the Bowen technique, training is given in saddle fitting, dentistry, farriery, nutrition, fitness, conformation and health in the horse.  A qualified Master saddle fitter, equine dentist, farrier, nutritionalist, and conformation specialist, Robert Oliver provide practical and theoretical lectures. There is also much home study and assignments to do. Bowen performed during training - is approximately 70 individual treatments.

I have also completed separate courses in Equine dentistry, saddle fitting, BHS exams. Parelli and Mary Wanless Ride With Your Mind.

I have competed at affiliated level in Show Jumping. I own an ex racehorse mare, whom I have owned for 14 years. It is because of her that I became an Equine Bowen Therapist. A compulsive cribber, she had problems maintaining her weight and had a permanent grass belly. Blood tests proved negative and I was told these were signs of old age. She also has navicular syndrome. After one treatment of Bowen therapy, she lost her grass belly the next day. Over a period of weeks she gained weight and muscle tone. Her navicular syndrome has been no problem for her since given further Bowen treatments. She takes no bute, no painkillers or other drugs, no hylauronic acid injections nor adequan. She is forward going, and still loves to jump and gallop. Trainers and judges always comment on her athleticism and can't believe her age, rising 21 years!

I now train with a FBHS and frequently liaise with an Advanced level dressage rider (an ex-working student of Ferdi Eilberg's), who provides training exercises I pass on to clients.

I attend frequent lectures and demonstrations given by trainers such as Mark Rashid, Ferdi Eilberg, Anky Van Grunsven and various lectures given by vets. With the various training techniques, I take on board information that rings true to me and reject that which does not. The learning never stops. At the end of the day, it is the horses themselves who teach you the most.
